Business Practices

Curious how some of the bigger authors make 6 or 7 figures?

Check out this video and this one to see how different authors made the big books through-out the year.

Spoiler Alert - they all did something different.

What I love about these videos is the reminder that there are multiple ways to make money and advertise your books. And you don't need to write 10 books a year to make it happen.

Dave Chesson is very well versed in

self-publishing and optimizing sales.

There are many useful tools and articles on his website. From marketing, writing, editing, publishing, and more.

Take a look around and browse his freebies, but he also has a few courses he has set up. I haven't taken any - yet- but I have heard good things.

He's also got a few software programs that could be beneficial for your self-publishing dreams.

Here is another book that hangs out on my desk!

When Word Hippo just won't do I grab April Gardner's Book.

I just look for the body part, movement, or action I want to change and scroll down the list of alternatives.

The Chicago Guide to

This book sits on my desk and is marked up with little sticky notes hanging out the sides.

The Chicago Manual of Style has become the go to for most authors,

but it mostly used for non-fiction.

So Amy Schneider created an approachable book that lays out style rules you can add into your book.

Take what you like, but remember there are multiple style sheets. So don't forget to create your own.

Definitions, Rhyming, Translations, Antonyms, and so much more!

Need another word for jump just type it in and click 'find it.' Bam you now have multiple words and multiple parts of speech - verb, noun, adjective - and how it's used.

QR Code Generators

There are a bunch of free sites to generate a free QR Code. Here are two of my favorite.

I like this one cause it comes with frames. Though some frames require you to sign up.

Popl is a digital business card. It allows you to add multiple links in a single location

Head on over to Kindlepreneur to generate your ISBN Barcode for free.

AutoCrit can be a useful tool to get overall feedback on your book. Bonus it's designed for fiction writers.

That being said it does have some drawbacks. I was going tow rite my own post about it, but honestly Dave over at Kindlepreneur did a much better job then I ever could. Check it out. He also has some affiliate links, so if you decide to purchase you may get a better price.

Fear got you down?

"The point of maximum danger, is the point of minimum fear."

-Will Smith

Will Smith talks about his experience with skydiving. But honestly what he says can be applied to

every aspect of our life.
